OUR PARISH

TIMES OF MASSES ARE SET OUT BELOW

OUR CHURCH

St Anthony's Parish Church, in the Diocese of Down & Connor, is situated on the Woodstock Road in East Belfast.  Our Parish is a group of like-minded people who gather together to worship around the Altar of God. Under the guidance of St Anthony the spirit of belonging is highlighted through the friendship and sense of connection evident when we come together.

St Anthony walks with us and having come through many troubles with his protection, we seek with privilege to emulate all that he stands for - tradition, guidance, and protection.

Music History in St Anthony's

Ms Gertrude Brady was our first resident Organist and Choir Mistress. She formed a choir and led the hymn singing at the 12oc Mass on Sundays and other church occasions for 50 years. She taught music and singing in St Anthony's Primary School and trained the children's choir who sang at 10am mass every Sunday. On special occasions the children's school choir sang the Gregorian Mass in Latin.

Dr Grzegorz Skibinski was our second resident Director of Music and Choirmaster. He introduced a wide-ranging repertoire of music including Hymns, Classical, Christian popular ballads as well as Taize and Gregorian Chant.

In addition to enhancing Church Worship with music, the choir were in demand for Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and other special occasions. The choir also released two CD's - "Classics and Carols for Christmas" and the second was "Jubilate Deo" recorded to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the consecration of St Anthony's Church (1938-2008)
